Strong earthquake in Indonesia

A strong earthquake hits southwestern Indonesia's Aceh province. The magnitude of the earthquake on the Richter scale was 6.2. The US Geological Survey said the magnitude of the earthquake that struck Tuesday was 20.3 kilometers.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 was reported in a tweet from the Indonesian Meteorological Office. The depth of the earthquake was reported to be 13 km. At the same time, there is no danger of a tsunami from the earthquake.

Administration and local residents said no damage or casualties were reported from the quake. During the earthquake, panic spread among the people. They left the house and went out on the street.

Many people were praying in the mosque during the earthquake. They too came out.

Indonesia is often hit by earthquakes and tsunamis due to its location in the Pacific Ring of Fire. The tsunami was also hit after a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.5 struck Palu area of ​​Sulayeshi Island on September 2018. It killed more than four thousand people.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's floods and landslides are increasing the death toll in Indonesia. 66 people have died in the last five days. In the capital, 9 people died in Jakarta. The rest are residents of districts around Jakarta. About 30 million homes in those areas were affected by heavy rains.
