Two Helicopters Collide in Mali, Died 13 French Troops

Two helicopters have been 13 killed in a helicopter raid in the African country of Mali. French President Emmanuel Macron's office said this on Monday.

British media say the BBC has reported the death of a maximum number of army personnel at one time after nine. In a statement, President Emanuel Macron expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives of members of the military. An investigation committee has begun work on the incident, the president's office said in a statement.

In the statement, Macrohne said, "These 13 heroes had only one goal: to protect us. I bow my head to the relatives and colleagues of the victims.

French troops were assisting by helicopter during an army ground operation against militants on the Niger and Burkino Faso borders early Monday morning. Another helicopter collided with the French army's Tiger Attack helicopter. It killed 13 army personnel.
